What makes reptile

A characteristic that most reptiles share is that they are cold blooded animals. They regulate their body temperature based on their environment, which is why you often see Crocodiles or other reptiles seemingly just basking in the sun. Another trait of Reptiles, is that they lay eggs to give birth to their offspring. Reptiles lay what are called amniote eggs , which have special membranes and a protective shell to help their young survive.

Bali Safari Park is home to a diverse number of Reptile species. They include the beautiful Iguanas and, most notably, the famous Komodo Dragon. We have hundreds of animals in our park from over species, including some of the rarest and endangered.

Not only are we one of the leading wildlife conservations in Indonesia, we are devoted to caring for the animals in our own safari. We ensure the highest standards of wellbeing is given to all our animals. The world's largest land mammals gather in groups and are led by females! Reptiles are found living in all habitats but are more common in warm, tropical places. Fish and amphibians have evolved with skeletons. Reptiles have developed larger skeletons that can hold larger organs and help them increase in size.

The legs of reptiles also evolved to shift to the bottom of the body; that allows reptiles other than snakes to pick their bellies off the ground and helps them to move more efficiently. Some turtles can live for more than years.

Only a small percentage of snakes are poisonous. Many snakes are constrictors, meaning that they squeeze their prey with their bodies until the animal is dead or immobile. Then they swallow it whole! If the meal is large enough, a snake can go weeks or even months without needing to eat again.
