How much parry does strength give

Thematically this works to parry very well. Dodging is a game of not being where the attack is coming so it makes sense for it to be Dexterity based.

Parrying on the other hand requires two factors - being able to intercept a strike by creating a 'block' before it hits, and meeting the strike with equal or superior force parrying with less force than the incoming blow typically results in the defender staggering, or the block being ineffective.

Parrying a blow typically requires little movement. Any martial artist knows to simply deflect a blow with as minimal effort as possible, thus the blocking "points" are typically close to where they began. Thus while speed and precision is a factor, Strength has more impact on its success.

If there is any charm that screws up anything it would be Increasing Strength Exercise. Once activated, its affects last a scene, and this modification would mean it increases the user's Parry rating by 0. But anyway - thats my thoughts. I actually feel somewhat passion on this as I am passionately against Dex being the "main-combat stat". There are other ideas I'm considering implementing to pull more of Dex's strength away from other areas skills more than combat though so I'll mention them in a seperate thread.

For now, feel free to comment and support or counter my three points offered as to why Strength has merit for creating your Parry rating. Support new ideas. If you must criticize, always offer advice to the creator on how they could improve, or even suggest alternative solutions to fix a problem you can see. Dismissive comments should be equally dismissed as attempts to grab attention.

Focus only on contributions that help you grow and develop, and ignore jealous efforts to stunt your creative sparks. Tags: None. I think it should work fine as long as you make sure not to give giants massive parry ratings. Might also want to modify a couple of Martial Arts. Crane Style is in large part about parrying really well, but high Strength doesn't suit it.

So maybe Crane Form should let you parry with Dexterity. Far as I'm concerned, it's a wash thematically and visually. Please do not copy paste your old guide from classic or add random stats without fact checking.

People gonna see and probably gonna use it. Please edit all these errors. Bring a Boomkin to your raid! Remember that Hunters ranged attacks don't count as spell attacks but ranged attacks. Comment by Alyrea Holy paladins do not benefit from spirit. Comment by Machette Do we have any numbers that show hit rating required for heroic content? I'm not talking about auto attacks, but abilities.

This has happened more than once, many times actually. Comment by max Warlocks benefit the most from Intellect and Spirit. So instead of a block rating heading and so on, I'd suggest using block chance as a heading so there is uniformity with the Weapon Stats and Caster Stats sections.

This is very minor, but defense was never converted to a rating system at any time in WoW's history. It always contributed directly to defense skill until it was removed as a statistic. However, there are quite a few people that refer to it as Defense rating—especially after the TBC pre-patch when ratings were introduced.

The same is true for armor, though a lot of people have referred to it as armor class AC as a carry-over from table-top games. It's just slightly verbose to add rating in these cases. Rather than placing such a priority on defense, a tank would be better prepared for raids if he struck a balance between melee mitigation Stamina, armor, etc , resistance gear where beneficial , and threat gear hit chance, crit chance, etc.

Lastly, I want to say thank you for taking the time to write this and for putting all this information in one place. However, prior to this the stat was simply known as "Spell Damage". Might want to change that, to avoid confusion. Comment by Mutantsteak Warriors benefit the most from Strength.

Warriors gain 1 melee Attack Power per point of Strength. Comment by marth It might be worth mentioning that higher stamina can be more useful for Warlocks than other casters thanks to their ability to convert health into mana which is extremely important in Classic.
