Are you driving all the way through Atlanta , or just TO Atlanta? If driving through, then you'll want to try and time it to the hours of between 10 AM and 2 PM. Traffic will still be heavy, but at least it should be moving barring any delays due to construction or accidents. If driving TO Atlanta then you have a little more flexibility since you don't have the evening rush hour on the outbound south side to contend with.
