I figure there must be some kind 'Guard' on there to limit it as such. Does anyone know of a way I could take off such a 'guard' to really crank on the thing? I just read the discussion re: deregulation from Sept Sorry about the extraneous message. Hope I didn't violate netiquette. I helped a friend move some large furniture yesterday Driving the pickup back from Asheville to Greenville, we got behind a Metropolitan II, driving 25mph on a 55mph 4-lane Didn't look like a moped-legal road, to me.
The driver kept checking his mirrors to see the line of cars behind him. I don't know why he didn't pull over into the nice wide paved shoulder and let some cars pass Must be a newbie. On a bare frame and handlebars like the Ruckus has, you can fab your own faring if you wish, you can hang all sorts of bags and boxes and toolkits on it I like those big fat tires, too. I think it looks pretty tough. Sure, its not as fast as some 2 strokes. The build quality is superb to just about any scooter for the same price.
I hate honda dunno if this is the norm, but our local honda guys are total jackasses I hate them I transfer that prejudice onto their machines. If I'd had pleasant results with 'em, I might have even considered a met.
I just thought of what it would be like, to bring a repair to them Still, those asshole honda dealers. When I had my 78 honda express, I hadda call the west coast shops and pay shipping, just to get polite service.
I know if I bought a new scoot, and it wouldn't hit I'd be steamed. That's identical to most new mopeds!! My wifes people 50 WAS restricted, but the dealer pulls out the restrictor plates if I remember, they looked like little rolllers or thick washers Both our bikes were deristricted and would do 45ish no problem.
I wonder why they made the Met II so slow? Seems like they f'd up a good machine with the II. Just goes to show you how important service is. I had a terrible experience with our local honda dealers, and I doubt I'll ever buy one. It's probably my loss, but I can be a real asshole. Don't hassle me-- I'd just as soon boycott your mega-corp for life. I'll drool over the ruckus, and then curse at it because it's a lousy rotten friggin honda.
That's actually pretty cool. Besides loving 50cc machines, one of my other obsessions is to 'stuff' as much engine onto a moped as possible. I don't have the skills to do this stuff yet, but a CR engine on a tomos or moby frame Registered as a "moped" but it's got 5 gears and a cc two stroke pushing it. My scoot is only 70cc, but I think it pushes around 9hp at peak. Of course, I assume you could jump a met II up to cc's and it'd still be doing The Metro 2 was restricted so that it could be sold as a moped.
