Above all else, CIET is a leadership experience. The training program is designed to inspire students to become outstanding leaders with a sound understanding of traditional leadership values. At the CIET, students are trained to lead and develop their officer leadership potential. Training at the Cadet Initial Entry Training The CIET course will give you some very special skills while simultaneously presenting you with a combination of mental and physical challenges that are specifically designed to bring out your leadership potential.
It's full of adventure, excitement and it's fun. An added benefit is the opportunity it provides to meet many other college students and establish some valuable and potentially lifelong relationships.
In many ways, this course will raise your leadership stock in an amazingly short period of time 28 days. During the "Future Leader" phase you'll rappel, participate in a leadership reaction course, learn water survival and stream crossing techniques, first aid, weapons and how to navigate on land using a map and compass during the day and night.
You'll be challenged physically throughout this entire phrase. You'll learn when to lead and when and how to follow. During phase two, the "Bold Leader" phase, we'll teach you small unit tactics. We'll put you through a self-confidence-building obstacle course, rock climbing, paintball and the Tarzan assault course. With your newly established confidence in water survival, you'll participate in small boat or raft operations.
Additionally, this phase highlights the importance of teamwork and a balanced lifestyle of work and recreation. Finally, during the "Discover Gold" phase you'll participate in some very entertaining social events, a family day and the culmination of the course — the graduation ceremony.
Travel expenses are covered and students are paid a modest amount for their time at CIET. These merit scholarships are awarded to the most qualified students who apply. The assignment affords cadets the opportunity to enhance their small unit leadership skills in a number of different areas. The cadet will train new soldiers in skills such as drill and ceremonies, physical readiness training and basic rifle marksmanship.
Cadets will have the opportunity to cultivate and practice instructional techniques and improve performance-counseling skills. This assignment is very challenging with a large demand placed on the cadet's time, self-discipline and physical endurance.
Long hours and hard work can be expected. These opportunities expose them to everyday life in different cultures and intensifies language study, which helps produce commissioned officers who possess the right blend of language and cultural skills required to support global operations in the 21st Century. Participants experience up to three different venues during immersion, including host nation military-to-military exchange, humanitarian service, and education on the social, cultural and historical aspects of the country.
Cadet Command sent Cadets and cadre to 26 different countries supporting Combatant Command security cooperation lines of effort. These cadets receive an OER at completion. This training is only available to nurse cadets and provides opportunities to develop and practice a clinical phase of instruction at Army Medical Command Treatment Facilities worldwide.
The cadets receive an OER upon completion. Only one cadet will be selected to work with the ASB unit for approximately 38 days. This is a three-phase internship program. The cadets receive an AER upon completion. First Aid Cadets develop confidence in their ability to react properly to battlefield wounds. Through hands-on training and evaluation, cadets learn critical first aid skills.
Maneuver Training In the first block of instruction in maneuver at LDAC, cadets learn individual battlefield skills, combat movement techniques and procedures necessary for subsequent tactical training at the squad level.
Maneuver training is a vehicle to teach and evaluate leadership. It introduces conditions of stress that parallel those found in combat. Tactical training introduces new skills, provides performance-oriented reinforcement opportunities and increases the degree of difficulty and sophistication of training events.
Cadets learn the skills necessary to function in a Tactical Training Area This building-block approach provides the best opportunity for cadets to learn and for cadre to assess leadership potential. They take place back-to-back while cadets are at the Tactical Training Base. Tactical Training Base: Cadets operate for five days out of a hard site facility between Maneuver Training and Patrolling.
They learn how to provide security by guarding gates and doing squad-level reconnaissance around the TTB, how to conduct TTB operations, and how they have to prepare for Patrolling. The first day, the squad training phase, is designed to train squad battle drills and collective tasks. The challenges are rigorous and demanding, both mentally and physically. These challenges provide a new perspective on an individual's ability to perform exacting tasks and to make difficult decisions in demanding situations.
The course places each cadet and officer candidate in a variety of leadership positions, many of which simulate stressful combat situations. In each position, cadets are evaluated by platoon tactical and counseling TAC officers and noncommissioned officers.
